“With a little help from our friends: The value of connection and macromarketing research in addressing critical global issues”
The 2023 Macromarketing Conference will be held June 19-22, 2023 in Seattle, WA. Macromarketing scholars will present their research and we will celebrate the value and power of connecting in-person for the first time since 2019.
Seattle is a seaport city on the West Coast of the United States of America (U.S.A). It is noted for start-up businesses especially in green building and clean technologies (Kate, 2019). Seven companies on Fortune 500’s 2022 list of the United States’ largest companies (based on total revenue) have their headquarters in Seattle: e.g., Amazon, Starbucks, and/or Expedia Group.
Seattle has a special relationship with coffee and coffeehouses. The city has the highest per capita coffee consumption in the U.S.A.; this fact and the locals’ love of specialty coffee have enabled hundreds of independent shops to thrive in the city that also produced the retail chains Starbucks and Tully’s (McNamee, 2022). Seattleites value the literature, arts, sports, and other cultural activities that their city offers.
The city “boasts large arenas, multistory bookshops, dozens of museums and galleries, and countless examples of public art” (McNamee, 2022). Seattle and its neighboring areas are filled with greenery all year round, which have earned the city “The Emerald City” nickname. This echoes The Evergreen State nickname of the Washington State. Yes, everything is green all year round!
We are excited and hope to see you in Seattle!
Stay tuned: we will update this page with the Call for Papers and more details about the conference, venue, hotel, etc.

Conference hotels
We have secured a block of rooms at two hotels; they are one block away from each other. One is the Hyatt House, the other is the Hyatt Place. The Hyatt House is slightly (1 block) closer to the conference venue, which is at The Seattle Center. Both include a full breakfast buffet and we have secured permission for our group to meet and eat at the hotels interchangeably.
The rates are the same at both hotels. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOOKING EARLY. There is a limited block of rooms (50 rooms at each hotel). The conference rate was secured last summer, and rates have risen considerably since then, so it is truly a great deal.
In order to obtain the conference rate when reserving a room, use the conference code G-TMS7 or click on the following links:
- Hyatt House Seattle Downtown: https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/group-booking/SEAXD/G-TMS7
- Hyatt Place Seattle Downtown: https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/group-booking/SEAZD/G-TMS7
The hotels provide easy access to a number of Seattle’s top attractions:
- Seattle Center (conference location): 3-6-minute walk
- the Space Needle: 2-6-minute walk
- Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP): 3-6-minute walk
- the Monorail: 3-6-minute walk
- Westlake Center: 14-16-minute walk (5-6 minutes via the Monorail)
- Pike Place Market: 19-20-minute walk (6-minute walk from Westlake Center)
- Seattle Waterfront: 21-minute walk
The last day to make reservations will be on Monday, 5/08/23. If our block is filled before that date, regular rates will apply.
